Tropical Cyclones
Tropical Cyclone 14E (Norbert) is located about 1125 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii
Tropical Cyclone 15E is located about 785 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja, CA

NORBERT HOLDING STEADY
According to the NHC advisory number 20…
Norbert is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h) and is expected to maintain this general motion during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. A gradual weakening trend is forecast during the next couple of days, and Norbert could become a post-tropical cyclone tomorrow. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).

DEPRESSION CONTINUES TO MOVE WEST-SOUTHWESTWARD OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC

The depression is moving toward the west-southwest near 9 mph (15 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue for the next several days with some gradual acceleration. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is forecast during the next 24 hours, and the depression could become a tropical storm later today. The system is expected to weaken beginning Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Animated multi-spectral satellite imagery (msi) depicts a partially exposed, elongated low level circulation with widespread, persistent deep convection concentrated to the equatorward side of a
monsoon trough. The broad, poorly defined circulation has been slowly consolidating over the past 12 hours.
Environmental analysis reveals low vertical wind shear (5-10 kts), moderate radial outflow, strong
divergence aloft, and a warm sea surface temperature (29-30c), indicating highly favorable conditions for further development.
The disorganized state of the system will limit the rate of development in the near term. Deterministic and ensemble guidance strongly agree with gradual development over the next 24-36 hours as the system transits northwestward.
Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 15 to 20 knots.
Minimum sea level pressure is estimated to be near 1006 mb.
The potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours remains medium.
