GENEVIEVE CONTINUES MOVING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD OVER OPEN WATER
According to the NHC Advisory number 36
Genevieve is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h). This general motion is expected to continue over the weekend, followed by a decrease in forward speed and a turn toward the northwest on Monday.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast, and Genevieve is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone by late Sunday.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km), mainly to the north of the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches).

Western Pacific
Tropical Cyclone 12W (Dolphin)
According to the JTWC warning number 25, sustained winds were 125 knots…with gusts to 145 knots
Animated enhanced infrared (eir) satellite imagery depicts typhoon (ty) 12W having just completed its eyewall replacement cycle (erc), resulting in a large, clear eye measuring approximately 50 NM in diameter. The eyewall is expected to contract over the next several hours, potentially resulting in a brief re-intensification.
Environmental analysis reveals a highly favorable environment, characterized by low (5-10 kts) vertical wind shear (vws), warm (30-31 c) sea surface temperatures (sst), robust radial outflow, and ocean heat content (ohc) measuring 75-100 kj per cm squared. The 011117z ascat uhr revealed maximum winds of 123 kts, supporting the initial intensity with high confidence. The initial position is placed with high confidence based on the large eye feature in animated eir.
TY 12W (Dolphin) will continue tracking northwestward while it remains under the influence of the steering str centered to its northeast. The southwestward ridge extension will continue to build, driving the system further northwestward. Beginning around 36-48 hours, the steering influence will shift to a
second str currently centered over the Korean Peninsula, reinforcing the northwestward track motion through 120 hours.
Regarding intensity, Dolphin is forecast to gradually weaken through the end of the forecast period, and is not expected to significantly recover now that it completed erc. 12W may momentarily re-intensify slightly within the next several hours, but is expected to encounter a marginally more unfavorable environment around 24 hours. By 36 hours, vws will increase to 15-20 kts and ohc values will decrease to 50-75 kj per cm squared, causing increased impacts from the storm’s cold wake.
12W is forecast to weaken gradually through 60 hours, then weaken at an increased pace from 72-120 hours. additional eyewall replacement cycles are likely as long as the storm maintains typhoon intensity, with subsequent events further weakening the core and expanding the wind field.

Animated enhanced infrared imagery (eir) depicts deep convection associated with a mid-level circulation displaced southwest of the slowly consolidating low-level circulation center.
Environmental analysis for the area indicates favorable conditions for development with warm sea surface temperatures (29-30 c), low vertical wind shear (10-15 kts), and good
equatorward outflow aloft.
The ecmwf deterministic model depicts gradual development of 94W into a tropical depression or weak tropical storm over the next 36 hours. The ecens and deepmind ensembles concur on a slow to quasi-stationary motion near southern Luzon and possible interaction with TY 12W in a couple of days.

The potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is upgraded to medium.
