The Pacific Disaster Center’s (PDC Global) Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Tropical Cyclone Activity Report…for the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and adjacent Seas
Current Tropical Cyclones:
Tropical cyclone 06E Fausto…is located about 780 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California
Northeast Pacific:
Tropical cyclone 06E (Fausto)
FAUSTO TURNS WEST-NORTHWESTWARD WHILE CHANGING LITTLE IN STRENGTH
According to the NHC Advisory number 12
Fausto is now moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). A general west-northwestward to westward motion is expected for the next several days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected today. After that, gradual strengthening is expected tonight through Thursday.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles (260 km).
The estimated minimum central pressure is 987 mb (29.15 inches).
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
SURF: Swells generated by Fausto are expected to reach the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula on Wednesday, and persist for a couple of days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
>>> Eastern and Central East Pacific:
A tropical wave located a few hundred miles off the coast of Central America is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression is expected to form over the weekend while it moves west-northwestward offshore of Mexico.
* Formation chance through 48 hours…low…10 percent
* Formation chance through 7 days…high…80 percent

Central Pacific: There are no active tropical cyclone
>>> Southwest of Hawaii:
Showers and thunderstorms associated with a trough of low pressure located well southwest of the Hawaiian Islands remain disorganized. Environmental conditions appear conducive for some gradual development of this system as it moves slowly westward to west-northwestward during the next several days, and a tropical depression could form over the weekend as the system approaches the International Date Line.
* Formation chance through 48 hours…low…near 0 percent
* Formation chance through 7 days…medium…40 percent
Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, and adjacent Seas: There are no Tropical Cyclones
Western Pacific
>>> There’s an area of disturbed weather being referred to as Invest 92W, which is located approximately 272 NM north-northwest of Yap
Animated enhanced infrared satellite imagery (eir) depicts an area of broad cyclonic turning obscured by deep, flaring convection. Furthermore, a 211321z ascat metop-c image depicts an area of poorly-defined cyclonic circulation, with wind speeds ranging from 15-20kts.
Upper-level analysis indicates that 92W is in a favorable environment for development, with low (5-10kt) vws, good divergence aloft, and warm (29-30c) sea surface temperatures.
Global models are in general agreement that 92W will continue to move west-northwestward as it intensifies.
Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 18 to 23 knots.
The potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is upgraded to medium.
