Exciting news! We have expanded our global early warning coverage with new automated hazard data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
IMD hazard data is now automated and fully integrated within DisasterAWARE, providing expanded and enhanced coverage on hazards impacting India - including avalanches, droughts, extreme temperatures, floods, landslides, marine hazards, severe weather, storms, tornadoes, and winter storms.
PDC Smart Alert early warnings are issued for each hazard, including advanced analytics on exposure, impacts, and potential humanitarian needs, as shown in the attached screenshots.

Typhoon Kalmaegi has made landfall in central Vietnam, bringing damaging winds, heavy rains, landslides, life threatening flooding and storm surge. Attached is PDC’s latest Event Brief showing potential exposure to damaging winds, which includes Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
Fung-Wong (previously designated as 32W) has strengthened into a Tropical Storm and is forecast to continue to strengthen as it progresses towards northern Luzon, Philippines over the next few days.
PDC is closely coordinating with national, regional, and international partners as these events progress.

While supporting ongoing response operations in the Caribbean following the impacts of Hurricane Melissa, the PDC team is also supporting partners in the Pacific in response to Typhoon Kalmaegi and the recently formed Tropical Depression 32W.
Typhoon Kalmaegi, referred to locally as “Tino”, brought heavy flooding and significant damage to parts of the central Philippines, and is forecast to move westward toward central Vietnam over the next few days.
Another system, currently designated Tropical Depression 32W, has formed near Yap, Micronesia. Forecast models suggest it could track west-northwestward, potentially approaching the northern Philippines by early next week as a powerful typhoon.
