The Pacific Disaster Center’s (PDC Global) Monday, August 4, 2025, Tropical Cyclone Activity Report…for the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of America

Current Tropical Cyclones:

Tropical Cyclone Dexter…is located about 250 miles northwest of Bermuda

 

Tropical Cyclone Dexter

DEXTER MOVING NORTHEAST AWAY FROM THE U.S. EAST COAST WITH LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH

According to the NHC advisory number 3

Dexter is moving toward the northeast near 14 mph (22 km/h). A similar northeastward or east-northeastward motion is expected over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, but Dexter is likely to become a post-tropical cyclone by the middle to latter portion of this week. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center.

Central Tropical Atlantic:

>>> A tropical wave moving off the west coast of Africa is currently producing only limited shower activity. In a few days, environmental conditions are forecast to become favorable for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression could form by the latter portion of this week as it moves generally west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic.

* Formation chance through 7 days…medium…50 percent

Off the Southeastern United States

>>> A broad area of low pressure is forecast to develop in a couple of days a few hundred miles off the coast of the southeastern United States. Some gradual development of this system is possible during the middle or latter portion of this week as the system drifts slowly westward to northwestward.

* Formation chance through 7 days…low…30 percent
