BLAS WEAKENS TO A TROPICAL STORM, BUT DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS CONTINUE ALONG THE COASTS OF SOUTHWESTERN MEXICO AND THE SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA PENINSULA

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the center.
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
SURF: Swells generated by Blas will continue to affect the southwest coast of Mexico and the southern portion of the Baja California peninsula during the next day or two. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
