https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/xgtwo/two_pac_2d0.png An area of low pressure is forecast to form well south or south- southwest of the southern tip of Baja California Sur this weekend. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for some gradual development of this system early next week while it moves west-northwestward away from Mexico. * Formation chance through 48 hours…low…near 0 percent * Formation chance through 5 days…medium…40 percent   https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/xgtwo/two_cpac_2d0.png No tropical cyclones are expected during the next 5 days   https://www.metoc.navy.mil/jtwc/products/abpwsair.jpg   There’s a tropical disturbance, being referred to as Invest 98W, which is located approximately 140 NM east-southeast of Manila, Philippines Here’s what the computer models are showing According to the JTWC, satellite imagery shows deep, persistent convection partially obscuring a low level circulation center. The disturbance is tracking northwestward towards the coast of Visayan Island. Invest 98W is in a favorable environment for development, with low <15 knot wind shear, moderate equatorward outflow, and warm sea surface temperatures. Global models are in fair agreement that the disturbance will continue to consolidate as it tracks north-northwestward over the next 24 hours. Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 15-20 knots. The potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is upgraded to high.
