According to the NHC Advisory 5…Karina is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next several days. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is forecast in the next 24 hours, with gradual weakening expected to begin on Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km) from the center.

An area of low pressure about 850 miles southeast of Hilo, Hawaii is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some gradual development of this system is possible over the next several days as it moves westward at 10 to 15 mph.
