There are no active tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea…or the Gulf of Mexico
There are no active tropical cyclones, or areas under investigation according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
The primary reason for the lack of activity over the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean has to do with the strong upper level winds over this broad area. This in turn is causing wind shear, which effectively inhibits vertical cloud development…and limits tropical cyclone formation activity.
This unlikely situation is forecast to continue through the rest of this week into next week. As a matter of fact…the NHC expects no tropical cyclone activity during the next five days at least.
