>>> There’s an area of disturbed weather, being referred to as Invest 98S…which is located approximately 220 NM west of Cocos Islands, Australia
Animated multi-spectral satellite imagery and a microwave image reveal a consolidating area of deep convection wrapping around a partially exposed low-level circulation center…with 20 to 25 knots.
Environmental analysis indicates marginally favorable conditions for development with moderate (15-20 knot) vertical wind shear and high sea surface temperatures, with an upper-level point source enhancing radial
outflow aloft.
Global models are in good agreement that Invest 98S will remain quasi-stationary as it gradually develops over the next 24-48 hours..
Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 20 to 25 knots.
The potential for the development remains high.
