Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, and adjacent Seas:
Tropical Cyclone 11W (Shanshan) – Final Warning
According to the JTWC Warning number 42, sustained winds are 20 knots with gusts to near 30 knots
Animated shortwave infrared satellite imagery indicates that the shallow, weak system made landfall and has tracked inland over the past few hours. Surface observations reveal winds less than 20 knots supporting the initial intensity assessment. The remnants of 11w are expected to track northeastward over the japan alps over the next 24 hours with significant weakening.
Tropical Cyclone 12W (Yagi)
According to the JTWC Warning number 2, sustained winds are 35 knots with gusts to near 45 knots
Animated enhanced infrared satellite imagery depicts a rapidly consolidating low-level circulation with a compact central dense overcast feature and deep convective banding over the western semicircle. A microwave image reveals multiple convective bands wrapping tightly from the northern quadrant into the southern quadrant, with the center positioned just north of a curved inner convective band.
Tropical Cyclone 02A (Asna) – Final Warning
According to the JTWC Warning number 11, sustained winds are 35 knots with gusts to near 45 knots
Animated visible satellite imagery depicts a fully decoupled low-level circulation center becoming increasingly elongated as the system weakens. Isolated convection is sheared off to the northwest, with the system engulfed in a very dry environment. TC 02A will continue tracking generally southward and is forecast to dissipate by 12 hours.
