However, there’s a tropical disturbance, being referred to as Invest 93W…located approximately 510 NM southeast of Visakhapatnam, India

Here’s a satellite image of this disturbance…and what the computer models are showing.

According to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), satellite imagery depicts a monsoon depression with a broad low level circulation center, and convection located around the periphery…although sparse near the center.

Meanwhile, microwave imagery confirms an elongated low level center with formative, although fragmented convective banding over the northern semi-circle.

The disturbance is currently located in a favorable environment with a poleward outflow channel…leading to strong divergence aloft. Additionally, there is low 10-15 knot wind shear values, and warm sea surface temperatures.

Global models indicate 93W will slowly strengthen while tracking north to northwestward over the next several days.

Maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 28-33 knots.

The potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is upgraded to high
