The Atlantic ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico remain tropical cyclone free, as dry air prevails between the African west coast, and the Lesser Antilles Islands…inhibiting tropical cyclone formation.

However, there continues to be a tropical disturbance being referred to as Invest 96L…in the mid-Atlantic.

Working against this system becoming more organized, continues to be the dry air noted above…in addition to the moderately strong wind shear aloft.

This tropical system will drift northward for the time being, and according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), this area has a low chance of developing over the next two days…which remains low over the next 5-day period.

Here’s a satellite image of this disturbance…along with what the computer models are showing.

Disorganized showers and thunderstorms continue in association with an elongated area of low pressure located about 1100 miles east of the Windward Islands. Environmental conditions are not conducive for development, and tropical cyclone formation is unlikely while the low drifts northward during the next couple of days.
