Post-Tropical cyclone 01E (Alvin) is now dissipating over the eastern Pacific, located about 790 miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.  What’s left of Alvin is moving generally towards the west-northwest at near 13 mph. Maximum sustained winds were near 35 mph, with higher gusts to near 52 mph. This first tropical cyclone of the hurricane season, in the eastern Pacific, is falling apart, and has weakened into a trough of low pressure. The NHC will keep an eye on this remnant low pressure system, although it appears that persistent westerly wind shear aloft…will keep regeneration in check.

Meanwhile, with former tropical cyclone Mahasen now in the history books, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center is showing no suspect areas for formation into a tropical cyclones in the western Pacific, the north and south Indian Ocean…nor adjacent Seas.
