There are no active tropical cyclones in the Pacific or Indian Oceans…or adjacent seas

PDC Global Hazards Atlas displaying 3 hour precipitation accumulation, along with an area of disturbed weather, circled in orange, with a medium chance of developing into a significant tropical cyclone within 24 hours...in the Gulf of Thailand
A new area of disturbed weather has developed in the Gulf of Thailand, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC). This tropical disturbance is located approximately 205 NM south-southwest of Bangkok, Thailand. Satellite imagery shows a slowly developing low level circulation center, which has tracked across the Malay Peninsula…into the Gulf of Thailand during the last 24 hours. Observations show that the deep convective banding is being dislocated to the northeast of the weakly organized system. This low level circulation center seems to be quickly tracking towards the Thailand and Cambodian coast.
Observations within the vicinity of the low level circulation center, show sustained winds between 10-15 knots (12-17 mph). Meanwhile, upper level analysis shows generally favorable environmental conditions. The primary limitation for additional development however, looks to be land interaction…as this disturbance moves towards the coast. The JTWC is giving this area a medium chance to develop into a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours. Otherwise, there are no other suspect areas of formation noted in the Pacific or Indian Oceans.
