Recent Flooding Events: Africa

PDC Global Hazards Atlas focused on the Horn of Africa, displaying PDC Integrated Active Hazards and 7 day rainfall
Kenya: According to the latest Africa Hazards Outlook (April 4-10, 2013), days of rainfall have resulted in flooding in many areas in Kenya. As a result, deaths have occurred, as well as damage to infrastructure. A continued risk for flooding remains for parts of southwestern and central Kenya, as heavy precipitation is forecast for the next seven days. (NOAA CPC)
Eastern Ethiopia and Southern Somalia: According to the same report, the risk of flooding has elevated along the Shabelle and Jubba River basins as a result of a combination of heavy rainfall that occurred over the past week and additional rainfall forecast for the report’s outlook period (April 4-10, 2013).
