Tropical cyclone 17S (Rusty) is dissipating inland over northwestern Australia…located approximately 65 NM east of Port Hedland, Australia (Dissipating tropical cyclone…sustained winds of 75 knots, with gusts to near 90 knots) – Final Warning

PDC Global Hazards Atlas displaying 3 hour precipitation accumulation, dissipating tropical cyclone 17S (Rusty), with JTWC positions, segments and winds...inland over NW Australia
Tropical cyclone 17S (Rusty) is winding down inland over northwestern Australia, just having come ashore off the far southeastern Indian Ocean. TC Rusty is located approximately 65 NM east of Port Hedland, Australia. It has been moving south-southeastward at 07 knots over the past six hours. Satellite imagery shows that Rusty has decreasing convection, and an elongation of the system as TC 17S has made landfall…and continues to weaken.
This looping radar image from Port Hedland shows a relatively small area of heavy rainfall associated with this weakening TC. Meanwhile, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) indicates that the vertical wind shear above has increased, running
at moderately strong 10-20 knots (12-23 mph). This now dissipating tropical system will weaken rather quickly, due to its land interaction…leaving the warm South Indian Ocean behind.
Now retired tropical cyclone 18S is dissipating over the South Indian Ocean…well offshore to the northwest of northwestern Australia. This satellite image shows what’s left of this decaying system.
