Rain and Flooding in Indonesia

This week we will focus on the recent heavy rainfall that is currently influencing  Indonesia, with a closer look at the ongoing flood event in Jambi Province.

Since the beginning of this year, many areas within Indonesia have been impacted by severe flooding as the result of heavy rainfall. Most recently, the province of Jambi has suffered greatly due to intense flooding, with at least six regencies flooded. According to recent reports, the Batang Hari and Muaro Jambi regencies are now experiencing flooding. In Batang Hari, as of February 10, over 7,500 houses were reported flooded, with over half (approx. 4,046) of the houses inundated

located in the Bhatin XXIV district. In Muaro Jambi, over 740 houses were reported flooded, with an estimated 350 houses flooded up to 50 centimeters (approx. 1.6 feet) in the Sekernan district. (ReliefWeb/Jakarta Post)

The latest forecast for Indonesia shows many areas with continued precipitation.
