PDC not only monitors current flooding events, but also tracks historical large floods, because understanding your local hazard exposure allows communities to mitigate, prepare for, and respond to known hazards. The image above shows some of the current flood events (icons) occurring around the world, as well as regions (teal-shaded areas) which have been historically affected by flooding.

Over the past week, flooding events/threats have been monitored within many countries, including: Afghanistan, Australia, Bolivia, Botswana, England, Guatemala, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the United States. Below are summaries of a

few of these flooding events.

Recent Flood Events

Some flooding events that have occurred recently:

• Bolivia (UN OCHA/REDLAC)
• Rains and Flooding
• Approximately 40,000 persons affected
• Southern departments most affected
• Botswana (UN OCHA)
• North-East and Central districts, including Tutume and Tonota sub-districts
• Heavy Rainfall, Flooding
• Over 870 households affected
• Guatemala (UN OCHA/REDLAC)
• Department of Izabal
• River Flooding
• Over 230 persons affected and an estimated 39 houses flooded
• West Java, Indonesia (ReliefWeb/Jakarta Post)
• Depok and Bekasi
• River Flooding
• Hundreds of persons evacuated
• Jambi, Indonesia (ReliefWeb/Jakarta Post)
• Bungo and Tebo Regencies, and elsewhere
• Approximately 120 houses inundated in Beliung and Bagan Pete subdistricts

PDC is currently monitoring flooding events/threats in: Afghanistan, Bolivia, England, Guatemala, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, New South Wales, Papua New Guinea, Queensland, Sarawak, South Africa, West Java, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
