Flooding in Jakarta!

This week we will focus on the recent flooding events in Jakarta, Indonesia. Days of torrential rains, which began last week, resulted in severe flooding throughout Jakarta and neighboring areas. As of January 22, reports indicate that 6,781 households have been affected and 29 persons killed (OCHA). The number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) has exceeded 37,700 persons, which includes approximately 22,783 West Jakarta IDPs and 10,765 of North Jakarta IDPs. As flood waters continue to recede, continued chances of precipitation are forecast throughout the coming week for Jakarta.
