PDC Global Hazards Atlas displaying 3 hour precipitation accumulation...and an area of disturbed weather (circled in orange) that has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours...in the southwest Pacific Ocean
An area of disturbed weather (circled in orange above) is now located about 355 NM east-northeast
of Vanuatu. Satellite imagery depict a consolidating low level circulation center, with a dense central overcast…along with strong mid-level circulation. Surface winds in the area are blowing in the 25-30 knot range (29-35 mph). Weather models indicate slow development over the next 24-48 hours. Thus, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) is giving this tropical disturbance a medium chance of developing into a significant tropical cyclone within 24 hours.
