Typhoon Claudia (03S) remains active over the South Indian Ocean, well to the south of the small island of Diego Garcia. It will track south-southwest a little further, and then take a turn to the southeast. As this happens, it will move over cooler sea surface temperatures. This in turn will cause a gradual weakening of this typhoon, dropping down into the tropical storm category once again…in about 48 hours. There are no islands in the path of Claudia…and Australia remains far to the east.
