Tropical Cyclone Activity Report – Pacific / Indian Oceans


Tropical cyclone 26Wis active in the western Pacific Ocean

…located approximately 265 NM southeast of Chuuk, FSM (strengthening tropical depression…30 knot sustained winds)

PDC Global Hazards Atlas displaying tropical depression 26W, with JTWC positions, segments, winds and error cones...in the western Pacific

Tropical depression 26W is active under a light 5-10 knot vertical wind shear, with favorable environmental conditions…which will lead to a steady increase in strength. This tropical cyclone will drift into the warm Philippine Sea, becoming a typhoon within 72 hours. The current path will take 26W into the general vicinity of Yap, with near 90 knot sustained winds at that point.
