Another week of flooding around the world! Flooding was observed in many regions, including Asia, Oceania, the Americas, Europe, and Africa! Flooding was observed in parts of western and eastern Africa, including ongoing flooding events in Niger, Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia, and is expected to persist within the region throughout the coming week (NOAA/CPC). In Asia, flooding was reported in India, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines. In southwest China’s Yunnan Province heavy rains, flooding, and landslides have forced thousands to evacuate (ReliefWeb/Xinhua), further complicating disaster response operations being conducted in response to an earthquake and series of aftershocks that began last Friday and claimed the lives of at least 81 people (ACT Alliance). Additionally, flooding was observed in Oceania, in Australia and Papua New Guinea, as well as in the Americas, in Colombia, Canada (Nova Scotia), and the United States (California, Nevada, and Utah).

Precipitation & Flooding: Pakistan

Monsoonal rains have resulted in severe flooding in parts of Pakistan, including Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan Provinces. At least 139 people have been killed and 182 injured. Additionally, over 8,800 houses and business have been either partially or fully damaged (PRCS). In 2010, monsoons impacting Pakistan resulted in deadly flooding that affected millions of people (PDC).
The latest forecast for Pakistan shows areas of continued precipitation.
