The Hawaii HAZUS Atlas (HHA) provides estimates of damage losses for a range
of historical and credible earthquake scenarios earthquake scenarios located in
and around the State of Hawaii. The damage losses were calculated using HAZUS99
Service Release 2, FEMA’s loss estimation model. The results presented
in the Atlas are based on, and derived, from the HAZUS global summary reports.
Further interpretation and post processing of HAZUS results are beyond
the scope and intent of the Atlas.
-
The main objective of the HHA is to provide the Civil Defense community
with estimates of damage from a number of possible earthquake scenarios,
thus providing managers and decision makers with already-computed estimates
of possible losses.
-
The summary data in this presentation could be useful as a macroscopic view
for the scientific, analytical and advisory community. However, detailed
information and breakdowns, etc., are beyond the scope of the HHA.
-
Model input parameters, run methodology and output formats, including the
color scheme used in graphics, were done in consultation with Hawaii State
Civil Defense (HSCD) and Hawaii State Earthquake Advisory Committee (HSEAC).
-
Information on the website is expected to have precedence over any
hard-copy print version of the HHA. Please use the feedback link to send
your comments to the PDC. Questions regarding the contents of the slides
must be addressed to the HSCD and their HSEAC.
