With the launch of the PDC Weather Wall PDC is able to reach a global audience, providing accurate weather and hazard information to the public while helping emergency managers worldwide prepare for, respond to and recover from disaster. Fulfilling its mission to support the global community, PDC will provide new weather products in 2012, and continue to evolve the ways disaster information and data are delivered.
The PDC Weather Wall will provide daily coverage of tropical activity (Tropical Activity Reports for Atlantic Basin, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico & Tropical Activity Reports for Pacific and Indian Oceans and Arabian Sea), and the same great access to disaster news you have come to expect from PDC, through the Weather Wall RSS Feeds. Hawaii Weather Overviews will no longer be issued on a daily basis, but rather only through Special Weather Summaries when threating weather approaches or impacts the state.
Also, beginning in January 2012, a new weather product known as the PDC Global Flood Survey will be issued weekly. It will appear on the PDC Weather Wall every Thursday. The new flood product will take a retrospective look at precipitation and flooding over the past week, and highlight areas of extreme flooding. This product will also provide readers and emergency/disaster managers with information and resources to monitor flood events.
As always, you can keep up with the latest hazards and disasters by downloading the free PDC Disaster Alert mobile app for iOS and Android devices, as well.
