Update: Heavy rainfall-producing storm system impacts Hawaiian Islands

Heavy rains continue to cause flooding across the entire State of Hawaii. This long lasting period of unsettled weather has brought periodic torrential rains, funnel clouds, strong and gusty winds, and much cloudier than normal weather conditions.

With the ground still saturated from this month's record-setting rainfall in many parts of the Hawaiian Islands, this continuing inclement weather is likely to impact the State through the end of the week, according to meteorologists.

Two weeks ago, storm-triggered flooding on the Island of Kauai caused a dam break on the Kilauea Stream, resulting in fatalities and significant damage.

The Pacific Disaster Center is continuing to provide support to emergency managers who are preparing for and responding to this situation.
